Recycled Wedding Dress by Emma Pritchard

We all love this recycled wedding dress that was designed by 11 year old Emma Pritchard for the St Francis College 'Recycled Fashion Show'. She was inspired by the dresses that she had seen here at Clifford-Burr Bridal & Mens Hire to create "The White Christy" and we all think she has done a fantastic job.

Fresh Coat of Paint for 2013!

Sorry it has been so long since my last update. We have been busy re-decorating and moving our shop around but I am happy to now be able to show you what we have been doing. 

All the painting and decorating was done by Robert Mahoney; who all of us would highly recommend. He did a fantastic job and was a great guy to have around the shop for the month that he was there. The biggest part of our move is that we brought our menswear department downstairs. This gives us more space and double the amount of changing rooms.

After all the work though we are proudest of our Bridal floor; especially the changing rooms. Although the layout hasn't changed the facelift has given the floor a whole new feel and we hope that you all like it as much as we do.

Preview of our 2013 Collection

Good Evening,

I thought that I would try and lift everyone's spirits on this cold and rainy November day by providing you all with a sneak peek of the new 2013 collection and a little bit about why we ordered them. All of the girls here at Clifford-Burr have been very excited about what is due to arrive and so to get you all feeling the same way I thought I would share some images with you all.

I think for us one of the stand out dresses of the show was this gorgeous gown by Diane Harbridge. We have had great feedback about Diane's first collection and we have high hopes for her second, especially with the use of striking images like the one below. Lace has been a favourite in the bridal industry for years and has been especially popular with our brides. The soft lace with bead detailing on this dress feels and looks fantastic. One of our favourite aspects of the gown was the introduction of full length sleeves; which were brought into the spotlight by the Duchess of Cambridge and is now something that more brides are looking for. This dress has an elegant feel to it which we hope will be very popular with our 2013 brides to be.

Another trend that is being carried forward into Spring 2013 is the 'sexy back'. The back of a wedding dress can be just as important as the front; especially since during the service that is what your quests will be looking at. As the bride you want to look beautiful from every angle. Because of this low and lace back detailing has become more popular over the last couple of years, and we saw some beautiful examples of this in our designers' collections. Sheer backs with lace appliques and peekaboo keyholes all appear in our new collection although this Annika dress by Only You had to be our favourite.

We had a lot of fun looking at the new collection by Romantica and this short fifties style dress was a unanimous favourite. We loved the volume with the lace appliques in the skirt and again the lace straps, making it a fun and quirky design which is perfect if you are looking for something a little bit different. If you aren't keen on having a shorter style wedding dress then this is also available in full length; so there is no reason not to love it.

I wanted to include this dress by Benjamin Roberts as it is an updated version of a style that we have had in store for the last year which a lot of our brides have loved. The bodice has beautiful flower appliques on it which also makes it a little bit different. The good news is it is an early arrival so it is already here in store; so if you like it then drop by.

Some of our most popular dresses in 2012 have been in the fishtail style, which is great at showing off your curves in all the right places. So we have incorporated that into our new collection with some stunning dresses from Sottero and Midgley. This dress by Callista is a great mix using the fishtail style lace skirt and organza bodice, to show off your curves in the best way possible.

Finally we ordered some new bridesmaids dresses from Jasmine Belsoie and B2. They had some beautiful dresses in satin, chiffon and lace; perfect for if you want a little bit of lace to make your bridesmaids match up with your wedding dress.

Finally I thought I would just share a couple of images of some of our new bridal accessories. Firstly we have this brilliantly sparkly pair of shoes from Rainbow club; perfect if you would like a bit of bling on your big day. The fact that you can still dye them afterwards is another bonus. We also ordered a lot of new headpieces and tiaras from Linzi Jay and June Ellen. Remember no wedding outfit is complete without your accessories.

We have reached the Shortlist.

Thank you to everyone who voted for us. We found out this morning that we have made it to the next stage of the competition. Clifford-Burr are officially on the regional shortlist for 'Best Bridal Retailer in London and the South East'.

We couldn't have done it without those votes and for that we want to say a big thank you to the brides that took five minutes out of their day to enter us.

We now have to wait and see what will happen, as we are up against some other fantastic shops but we will keep you posted.

Real Life Inspiration by one of our Brides

One of the nicest parts of our job is getting to see and hear all about our brides wedding days and luckily this time we get to share it with all of you. When we initially received the email alerting us to the nomination we were really surprised. Although we always try our best to provide good customer service, it is a brilliant feeling to know that one of our brides felt like we deserved to win that award. It made the nomination even more special. The response that we have since been receiving has been fantastic and we would just like to say how grateful we are for all of your support.

You will be the first people to know if we have made the regional shortlist. In the meantime though we will be keeping our fingers and our toes crossed.

Welcome to Clifford-Burr's Blog

Hi Everyone,

So to keep you all updated with the goings on at Clifford-Burr we have decided to start a blog. Which we will hopefully use to let you know about events that we have been involved in and also information about our beautiful dresses.

We have had a brilliant reaction to the fashion show from the Hanbury Manor wedding fair this month. We all really enjoy putting together the two shows and getting to work with the fantastic crew at Mr H Productions, Main Event Weddings and Hanbury Manor. We wanted to showcase not only some of our best selling designs but also some new styles from Sadoni and Diane Harbridge, which went down really well with both the visitors and the exhibitors.
